Corus Entertainment owns and operates 21 stations within the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation’s Canadian Global Television Network, as well as operating several talk radio stations under the “Global News Radio” brand.
Newscasts
Global News is a national network of television news and current affairs stations owned by Corus Entertainment. Its programming can also be heard on radio stations across Canada.
Corus owns and operates several talk radio stations under the “Global News Radio” brand, including CHQT Edmonton. Furthermore, they own numerous digital news websites as well as providing online news services.
In 2017, Corus began rebranding their news talk and all-news radio stations in major markets under the “Global News Radio” brand to align with their television news programming. However, this has caused some confusion regarding which stations use this branding.
Local newscasts outside Calgary, Edmonton, Vancouver and Toronto have been consolidated at Global’s studios in Toronto. This is especially true of nightly 6:00 and 10:00 p.m. newscasts from Saskatchewan, Regina and Saskatoon as well as Winnipeg’s 7:00 and 10:00 p.m. newscasts which originate from Global’s Winnipeg studios.

Sports
Global news Edmonton today covers all the major sporting events in Alberta and Canada, such as National Football League (NFL) games, PGA Tour golf tournaments, and much more.
The network’s national news programming is primarily produced at its Vancouver headquarters. Its eleven O&O stations also carry local reporting on various topics, with most offering morning newscasts of three to four hours, a noon newscast and supper hour programs lasting 30 to 90 minutes.
Many markets also broadcast a late evening newscast. However, these are typically cut down to 35 minutes for simsub subscribers.
Global stations, particularly those in Ontario, were renowned for their local sports highlights shows such as Sportsline, 2&7 Sports at 11 and Sports Night. Eventually these programs were unified under the Global Sports brand but most had been cancelled by 2005.
